Approach:
In Deyi, students go through experiential learning, inquiry-based learning, problem-based learning and game-based learning.
This involves students leveraging on technology to gain scientific knowledge coupled with science practical hands-on learning. Through the use of specialized learning spaces like the Aquaponics Greenhouse, Vertical farming and the Butterfly Garden, our students gain first hand experiences related to Science.
Enrichment programmes, learning journeys, and participation in Science competitions provide real-world applications of scientific knowledge.
In Deyi, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) activities promote insights into practical application of science in real life which nurtures students' curiosity, critical thinking, and appreciation for the value of science through immersive and authentic learning experiences.
Key Programmes:
Lower Sec Science Problem Based Learning Project: Our lower secondary science students investigate and solve a problem using science and technology.
Experiential Learning through Learning Journey: Students learn about fruits and how to make strawberry jam at the Singapore Science Centre.
Sustainability - Urban Farming through aquaponics and vertical farming: Our students optimize plant growth and maximize yields in both aquaponics and vertical farming systems in our sustainability education.
Stretch Programmes: Opportunities to represent Deyi in Physics, Chemistry and Biology Olympiads as well as F1 Challenge.
Learning in the Classroom with Technology: Our students in Sec 3 study Chemistry, Physics and Biology and are engaged in many exciting STEM activities requiring them to show their scientific understanding.
